- Recognition for implementing green management by exping the use of new & renewable energy activating resource recycling

Woongjin Coway won the Minister Citation of Trade, Industry Energy at the “2019 Korea’s Green Management Competition” co-hosted by the Ministry of Environment the Ministry of Trade, Industry Energy on July 10.

The competition was prepared to award companies, organizations, products which contributed to enhancing their competitiveness through green management has been recognized as one of the most prestigious governmental awards.

Under the vision of “1st Green Global Leader Who Designs a Healthy Tomorrow,” Woongjin Coway is carrying out low-carbon green management to reduce 50 in GHG emissions by 2020.

To reduce GHG emissions increase energy efficiency, Woongjin Coway has been exping the use of new & renewable energy sources. For example, Yugu Plant, Incheon Plant, Pocheon Plant, logistics centers have adopted solar power generation facilities. Moreover, Yugu Plant logistic centers have introduced LED light system.

Woongjin Coway has also been producing selling around 10,000 to 20,000 refurbished products for resource recycling, satisfying customer needs for reasonable economic consumption contributing to minimizing environmental impact.

The company is also proactive in environmental social contribution activities. For instance, Woongjin Coway signed a contract for the “Safe Underground Water Support Project” which provides water purifiers to rural areas suffering from polluted underground water with the Ministry of Environment in 2015. Since then, the company has been promoting technological supports research activities for improving the quality of underground water. Until now, water purifiers have been offered to around 250 households.

On top of that, Woongjin Coway has implemented a variety of shared value creation activities including “Water Welfare Service in Chungcheongnam-do,” “Water Purifier Support Project in Chuncheon,” “Environmental Disease Care Project for the Underprivileged.”

Seon-yong Chung, the head of TQA (Trust & Quality Assurance), said, “Putting environment first is not an option but a requirement in management activities. With the belief that we are the leader in caring customer health environment, Woongjin Coway will promote green management.”
