      Showcase a new air purifier linked with Amazon’s DART service at the 2020 CES

      Coway showcased a new service for air purifier which was linked with the DART (Dash Replenishment Through Alexa) service, the third-generation version of Amazon’s DRS (Dash Replenishment Service), at the 2020 CES (Consumer Electronics Show) held in Las Vegas on January 9. At the event, Lee Hae-sun, the CEO of Coway, David Jackson, the head of Dash Replenishment Business Group of Amazon, executive of both companies were in attendance.

      The DART service makes it possible to check the filter life of air purifier order new filters based on voice comm through the Alexa, the artificial intelligence platform of Amazon.

      The first-generation DRS enabled users to order consumables by clicking the Dash button of connected devices when consumables were exhausted. The second-generation DRS is offered through the IoT technology. It automatically checks the life of air purification filter orders delivers new ones when filter life decreases below a certain level.

      Coway plans to adopt the DART service to air purifiers for the U.S. market in January 2020 to boost local sales.
      Since 2017, Coway has been providing differentiated customers services through open innovation with Amazon. The company had introduced first Alexa-connected service among air purifiers in the U.S. market in 2017. Since 2018, the DRS has been providing. This progress has helped Coway solidify its presence as an innovative air purifier br in the U.S. market.

      As a result, Coway saw 45 increase year-on-year in unit sales of the Amazon air purifier in 2019.

      Amazon executives who attended the event said “Coway is an important partner of Amazon for future growth based on innovative technology exchange. We will continue to cooperate with Coway in order to lead the U.S. air purifier market with growth potential.”

      Lee Hae-sun, the CEO of Coway, said, “The open innovation with global IT leaders is one of critical strategies for the creation of future customer value. We will exp the DRS to Japanese European markets to boost overseas business.”
