GHG emissions throughout the value chain from purchase, production and distribution to use and the disposal process, and applies it to our product design through LCA(Life-Cycle Assessment).
Recycling and Waste Management
At Woongjin Coway, we are committed to recycling and waste management in order to minimize environmental impact. We offer the removal of old products in exchange for a new product free of charge, and recycle or refurbish them at our recycling center.
In addition, we are managing the quantification of waste produced at our workplace and through our products and services while increasing the scope of management. Additionally, we separate waste materials to minimize incineration and burial while working on RDF(Refuse Derived Fuel) by increasing the thermal recovery through incineration.

As our products are subject to the Act on Resource Circulation of Electrical and Electronic Equipment and Vehicles as of 2014, we established a waste collection and recycling system to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations(including voluntary agreements on collection and recycling of plastic waste). As our Codys collect and recycle waste filters we manage not only products but also service the waste.

- The production volume increased due to an increase in sales of FWSS launched in 2018. The recycled volume based on the products actually collected remains the same as the previous year while the recycling rate decreased.
Recovery & Recycling Refrigerant
In order to minimize environmental pollution caused by refrigerants, we use eco-friendly refrigerants and recover refrigerants(R-134a)¹ used in our products at the time of their disposal while disposing of them through a company designated by the Ministry of Environment.
- R-134a refrigerant gas has a GWP(Global Warming Index) of 1,300 and produces GHG.
Refurb System(Unit : unit)
Refurbished products are produced from products returned by customers or display products. Refurbished products are restored and sold at a lower price. Also known as repackaged products, they undergo replacement of parts and stringent performance tests to ensure that they have the same quality as new ones and contribute to protection of the environment.
